New grid structures for greater power supply security
Every year, renewable energy accounts for an ever greater proportion of the
electricity supplied: Germany, for example, plans to double its renewable energy
production to at least 30% of all its electrical power by 2020.
At the same time, it is becoming ever more difficult to transmit rapidly rising
volumes of electrical current from the power producers to the consumers at
all times.

  • Will the massive expansion of renewable energy jeoardise power supply
    security?
  • How can network operators and power producers react to these developments?
  • How can the providers of renewable energy themselves help to improve power
    supply security?

At this year's WestLB Energy forum, we would like to discuss these issues and the
potential consequences for individual renewable energy technologies and for the
power supply grid system.
